Jacqui shares her theory on why Ryan got a ‘good edit’ on MAFS Australia (and she didn’t)
She claims we didn’t see lots of what he said on TV
Jacqui Burfoot and Ryan Donnelly are easily one of the most memorable couples on MAFS Australia 2025. Both Jacqui and Ryan are claiming on social media that their experiences of MAFS don’t line up with what we see on screen. Now, Jacqui Burfoot has shared a new theory on why some viewers think her on-screen husband Ryan Donnelly got a “good edit” on MAFS Australia.
She said: “My belief whole-heartedly was that his behaviour was so bad that it couldn’t be aired on TV. A lot of the words he spoke and the controlling behaviour was to me very clearly controlling, dominating. Like I know the experts keep trying to say, ‘Is he controlling? Does he have power over you?’ And I was like, ‘No, he was dominating me. I don’t have a voice, basically.’
“I felt like it was just not a fair narrative.” Jacqui believes that because she and Ryan were on MAFS for a long time, the producers “have to try and make it look like we’re a good couple.”
She concluded: “I just think his behaviour was too bad for TV, really.”

On Ryan’s new burner Instagram account, he has denied Jacqui’s claims about how he behaved while they were filming MAFS Australia together. He called Jacqui “a liar” and claimed he was “manipulated” by her. Ryan accused her of spreading “lies, misinformation and slander” about him.
The MAFS Australia producers have previously said they don’t deliberately give people “bad edits”. Alexandra Spurway told Mamamia: “If we’re talking about the edit, I really don’t think there’s such a thing as a bad edit, just bad behaviour.”
