All the strict rules the Temptation Island cast have to follow whilst on the show

It might look like a free for all, but it’s not

Before now, the majority of us had only ever heard about Temptation Island through viral clips of Montoya running down the beach. But, a new season of Temptation Island has dropped on Netflix, so it’s time to get familiar with the rules of the show.

The concept is wild, but pretty basic. Couples enter the show together, and then are split up into two villas. A bunch of singles are then thrown in, with the purpose of wanting to get the other cast members to cheat on their partners. It’s a relationship “test” to see if you can avoid cheating. And yes really, couples actually do enter themselves onto this show.

So whilst it sounds like a dramatic free for all, and the majority of the time it is, there still are some restrictions in place. Here are all the rules the cast of Temptation Island have to follow whilst on the show.

There are very strict sleeping arrangements

The villa looks huge and luxury, but there are strict sleeping arrangements in place for the cast. Whilst the main cast members have a little more freedom and room to sleep, according to TheTrendy, the singles are split up into “dorm style” rooms. They sleep in bunkbeds, which we do sometimes see on the show.

Apparently there’s no limit on alcohol

Despite many shows putting strict limits on how much booze cast members can have, it’s been claimed Temptation Island has no such rules in place. There’s no limit to how much they can drink – it’s up to them!

The singles aren’t allowed to hook up

Sometimes you might be thinking, wouldn’t it just be easier for the couples if the singles just got together instead of splitting people up? Well, yes, it would. But, they’re literally not allowed to. The aim of the show is to test the couples. The singles are there to do that, and that only.

Temptation Island cast members can’t always wear the clothes they want

Cast members are restricted on some clothing, as they’re not allowed to be filmed wearing anything with visible logos or branding on. They also aren’t allowed to wear anything with any wild patterns, that might affect the cameras or be distracting. Producers prefer bright, block colours.

No mobile phones or technology

It’s a given on most reality TV shows that cast members have limited access to the outside world. This is the same with Temptation Island. No phones, and no technology is allowed. This is so there are no distractions from the experience.

Microphones must *always* be worn

The cast of Temptation Island must wear their mics at all times – yes, always. Given the nature of the show, drama can literally start to unfold at the drop of hat, at any time of day. So, there has to be a zero per cent chance this gets missed.

The cast film for six days a week

According to TheTrendy, the Temptation Island cast have one day off a week. This is much like Love Island, where Islanders are given Saturdays off to have some free time.

Each week, the cast will have an “off day” where they’re more free to do their own things. It’s been reported they are quite free with these days, and can leave the villa to explore.

There are strict rules about… hair?

Yes, you read that correctly. The cast are given rules to abide by, regarding their hair. It’s all down to filming and continuity. As soon as someone has been cast for the show, they are not allowed to make drastic changes to their hair, such as dying it or cutting it. Hair styles can be changed, but that’s about it.

“We like for them to have their hair the same color throughout shooting to maintain continuity,” showrunner Trifari Williams said to USA Network.

“We have hair and makeup artist on set for the big days, bonfires, and interviews. The ladies are welcome to put on their own foundation and our wonderful hair and makeup artist Melissa D’ Angelo does the rest. Melissa also styles their hair for them if they’d like that as well. Some of the cast prefer to do their own but for the most part, Melissa does it.”
