Hairdresser speaks out about ‘super painful’ problem with Grace’s extensions on Love Island
‘God it hurts so bad’
A hairdresser has spoken out about the extensions Grace Jackson has been wearing in the Love Island All Stars villa. Recently, loads of pictures from the show having been going viral, showing what appear to be bald patches at the root of where Grace has her tapes in.
Before the All Stars villa, Grace detailed all the cosmetic work she had done. Alongside some filler and tweakments, Grace visited a hair salon to get “super bright blonde” hair extensions. She had tapes done there, which can cost up to £244.
Now she’s in the villa, Grace has been styling her hair in her signature up-do a lot, showing where the tapes appear to be pulling on her head. People have been posting pictures, and speculating a lot on the issue, and how much it may be hurting her.
A hairdresser has since spoken out, and admitted yes, it probably is hurting Grace a lot. However, they said the problem lies with how Grace has been styling her hair, and not with the actual extensions themselves.
“I’m sure we’ve all seen the photos of Grace from Love Island’s hair extensions doing the rounds on social media this week,” they said. “Her scalp looks super painful too.
“Anyway, this is 100 per cent an aftercare issue. Since entering the Love Island villa, Grace has had her hair pulled up in tight ponies and slicked buns. Don’t get me wrong, it feels amazing to have a super high thick ponytail. But god it hurts so bad at the same time.”

They then went on to explain what the problem is, and what it’s caused by. They added: “By wearing her hair this way she is adding unnecessary tension to her natural hair. I’m certain that the technician who fitted Grace’s extensions would have advised that she only wear her hair in a loose pony or braid at the nape of her neck. Reducing pressure on her natural hair and scalp.
“It really does benefit to follow your technician’s aftercare advice word for word. When you leave our chair it’s up to the wearer to get grafting.”
A doctor, who specialises in hair and dermatology, has also spoken out. They noted what’s happening as traction alopecia, which is a “common but overlooked issue.”
“This type of hair loss occurs when repeated tension from hairstyles like tight ponytails, braids, or extensions pulls on the hair over time, weakening the follicles and leading to thinning or bald patches,” they explained.
