All the weird toilet rules in the Love Island villa that are actually so gross
They have to ask to go to the loo?!
Love Island All Stars is back on our screens, with loads more ex-Islanders hoping to find love again.
The South Africa villa has been totally revamped for this season, but there’s one thing that’s still the same – the toilet rules.
Going to the loo on Love Island is a whole ordeal, and there are loads of bizarre rules that are actually pretty gross.
They have to wear their microphones
Every Love Islander has to wear their microphone in the toilet, and they’re strictly not allowed to take it off before they go into the cubicle.
Former Islander Amy Hart claimed the producers watch on the cameras and turn the mic off as soon as they walk into the toilet, so no one can actually hear them doing their business, but how would you know it’s definitely been turned off?!
“They have someone watching and when you go into the toilet, they turn your mic off,” she said on TikTok.
There’s a camera in the toilet
Amy also revealed that there’s a camera in the toilet, so technically anyone could be watching them do their business.
“But it’s a security camera that only gets looked at if something happened and they needed it to see how you fell and hit your head or something,” she clarified.
Ella Barnes said the same thing, telling The Mirror: “Obviously, no one watches that camera. It’s purely if someone faints or they need to check the footage.”

There are only two toilets in the villa
In the entire villa, there are only two toilets to share between every single person. Yuck! Boys and girls have to share too, and it can get pretty gross.

“The only thing that really made me think ‘I wanna go home’ is whenever I’d go to the toilet and I’d see the toilet seat lifted up and just pee all over the floor and seat,” Sanam Harrinanan said.
In Ella’s season, the girls claimed the upstairs toilet as female only and gave the boys the main loo downstairs to avoid that from happening.
They have to ask to go to the loo
Tanya from season nine also revealed that they have to ASK to go to the toilet. Yes, really.
Speaking on the Cocktails and Takeaways podcast, she said: “If you need to go [to the] toilet, you have to ask. You have a mic on constantly.”
“You can just say and someone will hear you on the mic, and then the voice coming from somewhere will just be like ‘Yeah you can go’ or ‘Not right now, just wait a second’.”
