Why did Montel and Leah break up? All the messy drama that went down after Love Island

Montel McKenzie is the latest Islander to come into the All Stars villa as a bombshell, eager to find love once again after his first attempt failed.

The footballer left Love Island with Leah Taylor and they seemed pretty loved up, but split just two weeks after getting back to England.

So, why did they break up? Well, Leah said they mutually decided to just be friends, but that wasn’t the full story.

Leah said they were better as friends

“Our time in the villa was absolutely incredible, but we’ve actually decided to just be friends,” she told The Sun.

“We get on really well and I do really like him, but I feel like for me it’s never enough. I’m obviously looking for someone long-term [who] shares the same values and morals as me.”

She then insinuated he had cheated

A little while later, Leah hinted that he had cheated on her, writing in a TikTok comment: “Yes I forgave once in the villa and was ready to move on from it but I don’t forgive twice.”

It came after he was pictured at an event with Tink, who he kissed during Casa Amor.

Montel denied cheating on her

However, Montel took to TikTok to firmly deny any infidelity after he had seen his name “circulating in the media” alongside some “rumours” and “a bit of bad press”.

“I thought I’d come here and address everything. First of all, they are just rumours. I would never do that,” he said.

“Obviously after what happened in Casa, the pictures came out and Leah wasn’t happy with the position of the pictures where people were posted.”

“Leah wasn’t happy with how people were positioned in the picture, she said it made her feel a type of way, she was unhappy, it made her feel stupid which I do understand.”

“I get it. For me I was just out having a good time, we took a picture, I was with my boys and we were all just chilling and we moved on with the night.”

However, he assured everyone that anyone who was at the event with him “can confirm nothing happened”.

“I didn’t do anything, didn’t sleep with anyone, wasn’t DMing anyone. I just wanted to be with her at the time.”

It just didn’t work out

In another interview with OK!, Leah said it was “just one of those” where it didn’t work out.

“We were coupled up while on the show and it was quite a new couple as well, so it’s not like we had as much time as the other people in there,” she said.

“So we had always said the next step for us was seeing how things work in the real world. And coming out we went on one date but it’s just one of those, it hasn’t worked out.”

She is rumoured to go into All Stars as a bombshell too, so perhaps they’ll have an awkward reunion.
