There’s a surprising real-life romantic connection between two actors in Squid Game 2

Nowhere for romance like the set of a murderous Netflix show!

After obliterating the Netflix top 10 this week, Squid Game 2 has been at the forefront of everyone’s minds. With so many new characters introduced to us in this season of Squid Game, a surprising romantic connection has managed to sneak through without any viewers noticing. Although, once you find out it’ll be impossible to ignore.

Chae Gook-hee plays Player 144, or the iconic shaman psychic lady who claims she can see everyone’s future. She began her acting career in 1994 as a musical theatre actor and has been in films and TV shows since her debut.

However, in 2008, she met actor Oh Dal-su, who starred with her in a play called Marijuana in 2008. What you definitely didn’t know is that Oh Dal-su plays the sea captain who saved Detective In-ho’s life at the end of season one, and is helping him find the Squid Game island in season two. Whattttt?!

Their relationship evolved privately after starring in a 2012 film called The Thieves, and in 2016, they officially acknowledged their romance. They were even spotted going on dates together.

In 2016 when the news first broke, a source told Soompi: “It’s already well known in the film and theatre worlds that they are in a relationship. They have dinner together with their acquaintances and introduce each other as the person they are dating.”

However, in 2018, before the release of the film Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead in which Oh Dal-su was in, he avoided questions about marriage plans during a press interview and refused to comment on his dating life. Shortly after, the two officially announced their breakup.

They’ve been reunited on the set of Squid Game 2, and despite not having any scenes together in this second season, it’s likely they’ve crossed paths.

Squid Game is available on Netflix now. For all the latest Netflix news, drops, quizzes and memes like The Holy Church of Netflix on Facebook.
