People found another frustrating plot hole from Squid Game season two that makes no sense

It was such a key plot point in season one too!

Squid Game season two has been out for less than a week and has already launched itself at first place on the Netflix top 10 charts. After wild success in its first season, prompting Squid Game: The Challenge, MrBeast’s Beast Games and even a Squid Game rave, season two has come back with a bang. If you binge-watched the entire series already, you should probably like get a job or something, or you could dive deeper into the lore with this crazy plot hole that people have spotted in the first episode. It’s really hard to miss.

In Squid Game episode one, we’re thrown straight back into the world of Gi-hun and pick up where season one left off. He’s just about to step on the plane but decides to turn around at the very last minute. It’s very jarring!

After he leaves the airport, that’s it. Years go by and the storyline basically resets with a new motive which is finding the recruiter and putting an end to the games. And with the new setting, new season and new timeline, Gi-hun loses his iconic red hair. Why?!

Gi-hun’s red hair was such an integral boss move at the end of season one, and represented a new level of fearlessness and courage in taking down the Squid Game. However, he just completely loses it, like he loses his sanity in season two. It’s not explained which is really irritating, and the series just carries on as normal.

People on Reddit have been trying to theorise why he might have lost his red hair because the show didn’t give us the answers we wanted. One user wrote: “I think it was meant to symbolize that he was trying hard to change his life for the better, but the moment he became obsessed with something else (taking down the games), he reverted back to his natural hair (back to his destructive habits).” Makes enough sense to me.

Another said: “Small theory but at the end of season one when Gi hun called, they told him to get on the plane. I feel like he got kind of creeped out that they knew where he was, so dyed it back so he wouldn’t stand out as much.” Another good theory.
