Keira Knightley plays Helen, a Tory housewife married to the defence secretary who’s actually deep undercover as a Black Dove – a spy. She works for Sarah Lancashire’s Mrs Reed, and is best pals with Ben Whishaw’s Sam – a triggerman assassin working for the Black Doves. It’s all chaos, but what happens off the show? Sarah Lancashire, my Happy Valley queen, is married to Peter Salmon – a TV executive who is the top dog of Endemol. If you don’t know Endemol, they’re a massive production company behind some huge shows. They met when Sarah Lancashire was still playing Raquel on Corrie, and Salmon was employed by Granada.

She has two sons with her first husband, and one with Salmon born in 2003.

The love lives of the Black Doves cast are notably more peaceful than those they play on the show, I’ll tell you that much.
