Last night saw the first of the MAFS UK 2024 home stays. This always brings drama, but one thing that was pretty distracting this time around was just how staged this episode of MAFS UK 2024 really was. It was painful in places.

By far the most fake episode of the season so far, we headed to Lacey’s home to spend some time with her, Nathan, Lacey’s mum and sister. But everything about the visit felt put on, and people on Twitter have called out just how bad it was.

“Laceys home stay is too staged,” one person said. Another called out Lacey’s mum and sister, and said they appeared “desperate to be on telly” in the episode that was “so rehearsed.” Lacey and her sister have been on TV loads before, so it’s not too much of a stretch.

Let’s get the very obviously staged moment out of the way first – *that* bed scene. It was meant to be first thing in the morning, yet somehow Lacey and Nathan were in bed and she had a full face of makeup on, and he had his signature 90s gel haircut fresh and ready to go. It was like a rerun of the first episodes of TOWIE.

Then, out of nowhere, Lacey’s mum and her sister Paige bombarded the room and dived onto the bed with them. Ok? Not to mention that similar to Lacey, Paige also looked fully put together in her perfect PJs, like she’d just finished a shoot with Victoria’s Secret.

Lacey’s mum crashed in announcing the morning, and I can just imagine her waiting the other side of the door, awaiting her cue from the producers to enter the bedroom after Lacey had finished her sentence.

Later in the morning, oh, Lacey’s mum just happened to have some DIY she wanted doing? No she didn’t. The staircase was already white. Nathan didn’t “miss a bit” painting it. It was all so we could have the forced situation of Lacey’s mum drooling over Nathan. Yawn.

If you needed any more confirmation this was put on, there was then that cringe clip of the three women stood in the doorway “drinking tea” and watching him work. “The staged tea sip,” someone on Twitter pointed out.
