Who is Daeron Targaryen, Alicent’s mysterious youngest son in House of the Dragon?
I need him to feature in the show immediately
During the most recent episode of House of the Dragon, there wasn’t a dry eye in the building after Alicent asked Gwayne about her mysterious youngest son, Daeron Targaryen. Whilst we didn’t get to learn a huge amount about him, Gwayne revealed her son is: “Stalwart, clever, as adept with his lute as he is with his sword. And a feature in the fancies of many a young lady, I’ll wager. He’s kind.” I’m on the floor sobbing right now.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard Daeron’s name mentioned in House of the Dragon either. During episode two, Alicent and her father Otto Hightower are having a conversation when Prince Daeron is mentioned. Otto discusses how Daeron is currently at Hightower in Oldtown and how he’s more well-behaved than his older brother Aegon. But who actually is Daeron Targaryen and will he appear in the next season of House of the Dragon?

In the books, he is regarded as the “gentlest” of all the children and is around the same age as Jacaerys. Viserys requests both Jacaerys and Daemon share the same nurse to help them bond but sadly he ends up hating his cousin just like his siblings. In the House of the Dragon, Daeron Targaryen is sent to live with Lord Ormund Hightower by Alicent and becomes his cupbearer and squire. And because he’s a Targaryen he obviously has his dragon named Tasserion.

In the books, it’s not made super clear why he’s sent away by Alicent but he does return to help them fight in the war for the Iron Throne, so it sounds like they could be sowing the seeds for his return!
