Ok, here’s what actually happened to Griselda Blanco’s sons

One is seriously unhappy with Netflix

In just a few days after its premiere, Netflix’s newest miniseries, which chronicles the life of drug lord Griselda Blanco, shot to the top of the streaming service’s ratings. Actress Sofia Vergara, best known for her role in Modern Family,  portrays the notorious drug lord known as “The Godmother of Cocaine”. And it’s total chaos.

The drug trafficker’s life and her wild years spent in Miami’s criminal underworld in the 1970s and 1980s are explored in the show. As Blanco rises to the top of the American drug trade, the series’ conflict and deception have captured the attention of viewers.

Blanco, in the show, starts out trafficking drugs to give her family a better life, but things soon start to go wrong. While her children were being targeted by their enemies, Blanco was apprehended and imprisoned. In the finale episode of the show, agent, played by June Hawkins, explains what happened to each son:

Dixon Trujillo-Blanco

Dixon was the oldest son. At a young age, he picked up the skill of drug trafficking from his mother and helped her with her business. However, without realising it, he assisted authorities in eliminating his entire family. This came about as a result of a man, by the name of Gerry Gomez, being prepared to turn the in the Blanco family, in exchange for a reduced punishment for his own crimes. Gomez was advised to get in touch with Dixon, where Dixon ended up asking his to launder his money. Eventually, this led to Griselda being located by the police. The show states how he was later shot while he was walking to his car, which was found out to be a murder. However, some articles claim that he died in prison, making it unclear if the show has made up this detail or not.

The public is curious about Uber’s whereabouts and activities since the details of his life before 2012 are still unknown. However,  what we do know is that he also helped with his mothers criminal activities and like his brothers, Uber was also murdered by being shot in Colombia while he was making a drug deal himself. It is unclear however, like with Dixon, if this was how he passed away in real life or if the show made this detail up.

Osvaldo Trujillo-Blanco

Similar to his two elder brothers, Osvaldo also suffered as a result of his mother’s illegal actions. He was another son that was also involved in her criminal activities. His murder happened while he was in a crowded nightclub. The series finale depicts Blanco learning that her three oldest sons were murdered while she was in prison.

Michael Corleone Blanco

Michael is still alive. He currently owns the lifestyle company Pure Blanco and was a cast member of the VH1 reality series Cartel Crew. If you were wondering why his name sounds familiar, that’s because he gets it from the central character in The Godfather series.

It was reported by the Miami New Times in 2012 that he was arrested for trafficking in cocaine. Using $10,000 in cash, a motorcycle, a diamond necklace, and a pendant bearing the words “Kill All Rats,” he was accused of attempting to purchase five kilograms from an undercover detective.

Michael has also released a book called, My Mother, The Godmother. In this book, he shares the truth about his relationship with his mother and delves deeply into the ways that drug trafficking, violence, and corruption have claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people.

Since the miniseries has been released, Michael and his spouse, Marie, are presently suing Netflix and the Griselda creators, on the grounds that he received no payment for the recordings of his talks with producers, which serve as the basis for the show.
