KSI has apologised for using a racial slur in The Sidemen’s latest YouTube video

He has now decided to ‘take a break’ from social media

YouTube star KSI has apologised for using a racial slur in the latest Sidemen YouTube video.

During the video KSI and his YouTube group, The Sidemen, were playing a Countdown challenge. The challenge had the same format as the popular Channel 4 show, and the YouTubers had to find the longest word from nine letters.

In the video, KSI said he was struggling to find an answer out of the nine letters before announcing the word. He said: “We need points and I don’t mean maliciously, but the word is P***.”

The other YouTubers who were in attendance were seen laughing at KSI’s answer. The YouTuber turned rapper and boxer has now apologised for using the racial slur in the video.

In a statement posted to his Twitter, KSI said he wanted to “apologise” for his comment. “I want to apologise for saying a racial slur in a recent Sidemen video,” he began. “There’s no excuse, no matter the circumstances, I shouldn’t have said it and I’m sorry.”

He continued to say his audience shouldn’t place him “on a pedestal” because he is “human” and makes mistakes. He said: “I’m not perfect, I’m going to mess up in life, and lately I’ve been messing up a lot.” KSI took the time to announce he was taking a break from social media “for a while”.

The Sidemen have been a group on YouTube since 2013, and have accumulated over 18 million subscribers on their channel. The group regularly post challenges and sketches on their channel. The video has since been deleted from The Sidemen’s social media accounts and YouTube channel.
