Literature lovers rejoice: Lancaster Litfest to return for 2023!
The literature festival will take place throughout Lancaster from the 8th March to the 26th March
Lancaster’s 44th annual literature festival is back again for 2023, with a variety of online and in-person workshops, talks and exhibitions set to take place.
The festival is scheduled for the 8th-26th March, and aims to celebrate all aspects of children’s books, fiction, poetry, illustration, storytelling and more.
In light of the cost of living crisis, the organisers have announced that this year’s events will be free to access.
Julie Bell, the event’s chair, stated in the programme: “We believe firmly that the arts should be available to everyone, regardless of economic circumstances, and we remain committed to providing that access through Litfest events.” The organisers instead have asked for donations to the festival to support its continuation.
This year’s celebration welcomes several award-winning authors, including young adult’s writer Cynthia Murphy, and Frank Cottrell-Boyce, the author of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again.
Exhibitions are being set up at the Storey Gallery from 17th-25th March, and visitors are once again invited to take part in this year’s events, with opportunities ranging from the “Litfest International Book Club” to a theatrical tour of the river Lune.
Tickets for the festival can be reserved here.
