The crown is within reach

The moment you’ve all been waiting for is finally here. It’s time for the final of The York Tab’s BNOC of the Year Competition 2022.

Over the last few weeks, you have been voting for your biggest name on campus and now it’s time to reveal the winners of each round and who will be going head to head for the BNOC crown 2022.

As before, the person with the most combined votes from the poll below and the poll on our Instagram story will be crowned your winner. The results will be released TOMORROW, so make sure you get your vote in now to decide who gets a new Tinder tagline for the next year.

Hopefully, you’ve had a chance to get to know our three nominees, but if you haven’t, here’s a round-up of this year’s finalists.

Jacob Harlow

Jacob already possesses a BNOC crown after winning our competition in 2020 and is hoping to keep hold of it this year. He received an incredible number of votes and nominations, with one plainly stating “Who doesn’t know Jacob?”.

Jacob definitely has an established presence on social media as another nomination describes him as a “TikTok genius”. Upon finding out about his place in the final he said: “It’s good to know people remember my face from 2020 I guess” and that winning would be “the cherry on top” of his three years at York.

Wardah Moosun

With a record number of votes, first-year Wardah was the winner of heat two with one nomination describing her as “the sweetest and most bubbly girl” they know.

Wardah said: “Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to make it to the finals of the BNOC competition, but thinking about it I’m so happy with this outcome! Finding this out has honestly been a blessing in disguise, I’ve gained so much more confidence in myself as a person and in everything I do.

“Like I’ve mentioned in the past, being a social butterfly is my middle name!”

Phoebe Lane

Second-year History student Phoebe came out of the third heat victorious after being nominated due to her TikTok account @uniwithpheebs. One nomination even described her to be “what inspired me to come to York when it came to firming uni choices.”

Phoebe said: “It’s so funny to me that I won my round as never believed my TikToks would even get any views let alone inspire anyone to come to York so it’s lovely to hear! “
