Spotted: Pop’s best dressed

Smurf or Miley Cyrus look-a-like? The SU’s weekly event ‘Pop!’ gives us all an opportunity to sport our most fashionable and sometimes slightly controversial outfits. Check out the best dressed from Week One Pop!

Following Miley Cyrus’ disturbing VMA performance, Chloe Burrow sported an uncannily similar costume to the outfit Miley wore at the VMA’s! Amazing effort from this netball girl – she even remembered the shocking foam finger! Let’s hope Chloe didn’t use Miley’s twerking skills as a pulling technique at Pop!…

Let’s hope she CAN stop, unlike poor old Miley

The CMD girls never fail to impress with their glam, bold statement outfits. Week One was their tropical themed circle, and their brightly coloured outfits caught The Tab’s eye..and probably the lads too.

Aloha, muy bueno!

This particular Pop-goer sported a questionable Tesco’s horse meat costume for a ‘Bad-Taste’ themed circle. Slightly inappropriate? But still pretty inventive! The phallus hat adds extra class to this outfit…

What a dickhead

This week also saw the Copper rooms filled with Smurfs. The Mixed Netballers were entirely blue for the night although by the end of Pop the blue had become  slightly purple-tainted. Some Smurfs also rocked some beaut dribble marks from smashing those pints!

Very surreal seeing drunken Smurfs…

The boys’ clubs are often spotted in Pop by their weekly matching outfits. In particular, the Men’s Hockey Club don blue shirts and striped matching ties. Whilst the combo is smart, the purple-stained, unwashed, sticky ties are not such a turn on. The smell of these ties are literally intoxicating. I think it would be fair to say their outfits are maybe not quite as loud as their circle but Kight, Piglet, Dougall and Tricker still look suave in this photo nonetheless…

Obviously pre-circle with the lack of purple stains on those shirts…

Warwick Cheer also came in The Tab’s top six best dressed as the Warwick’s Devils stepped into Pop as Pop Stars. In this photo we have Ellie Thorp as Avril Lavigne, Grace Robertson as Ginger Spice, Terri Cliffe as Cheryl Cole and Sarah Collins as Katy Perry.

Perhaps the start of a new supergroup?

All very impressive for the first Pop! of term, but can this level of dedication be sustained throughout the year? Stay tuned for The Tab’s coverage of next week’s Pop to see if you made the cut!
