Five things we bet you didn’t know were happening


Bungee Jump for the Charities Campaign, Wednesday

Sign up to fling yourself off of a bridge and into a gorge attached only by thick elastic…it’s for charity. The Charities Campaign promises it’s safe and you’ll be doing it to raise money for their three designated charities of the year: UNICEF, Nightline, Maggie’s Cancer Care in Fife. Sign up 1-3pm at the Union on Wednesday to finally tick bungee jumping off your bucket list.

MusSoc’s Magic of Disney, Friday

This Friday in Younger Hall, the University Wind Band and Big Band are going to play all your Disney favourites. The concert will be held with help from DisneySoc, providing a photobooth, face paint, and general Disney cheer. Tickets are £3 for students and will get you a discounted ticket for a Disney themed Bop later that night.

Events Applications for On The Rocks

Applications are now open to take part in On The Rocks, the largest Student-Run Arts Festival in the UK. Going into it’s eighth year, On The Rocks showcases art, fashion, theatre, photography, film and music from the student body and wider community. See that amazing event you’re envisioning come to life! Apply through the website.

Pangea 2015, Friday

This Friday and Saturday will see St. Andrews’ first international exposition, hosted by St Andrews Equal Opportunities. The two-day festival will feature a series of events highlighting the food, music, and customs of cultures represented by the St. Andrews student body. Pangea 2015’s main event will be a two-day expo in 601, featuring stalls of international foods, music, and live performances.

Escalating Tensions, Tuesday

Hong Kong Mainland China tensions. Bu Er magazine, a student publication targeted at St. Andrews’ large Chinese population, will be hosting a discussion about the relationship between Hong Kong and Mainland China. You’ll get to hear about the situation from both sides of the argument and speak with other students who feel passionately about this ongoing conflict.
