First case of Covid-19 Indian variant confirmed in Sheffield

Sheffield has the 10th highest Covid-19 rating in England


The first case of the Covid-19 Indian variant has been confirmed in Sheffield.

This makes up 31 confirmed cases of the Indian coronavirus strain across Yorkshire.

Sheffield now has the 10th highest coronavirus rating in England.

On Monday, all restaurants and bars reopened their indoor seating areas. This was one of the final stages of the government’s plan to ease lockdown restrictions.

However, due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the city, the government have discussed the reintroduction of local lockdowns.

At present, Bolton has the highest Covid-19 rate in England, closely followed by Bedford and Blackburn.
