University of Nottingham fails to enter the top 100 in new world university ranking

University of Nottingham has failed to enter to the top 100 in a new world university ranking for 2024.

Whilst University of Nottingham has dropped out of the top 100 once again in the prestigious QS World University Rankings, claiming 108th place, Nottingham Trent University has gained three places, continuing its upwards trend.

After UoN finally progressed in the tables last year for the first time since 2019, it has since fallen short of the top 100. This year it has fallen eight places to 108th with a middling 58.5 as its overall score.

However, the Russel Group uni is striving to return to its former 2016 ranking of 70th.

Whilst scoring 97 per cent in sustainability, a concept the university prides itself on, it has fallen short in several other areas such as its employment outcomes.

For a Russell Group university, UoN has disappointed with academic reputation scoring of 61.1 per cent, perhaps influenced by its faculty student ratio of 32.8 per cent.

Despite its rankings falling short of the top 100, it has scored well in certain subject areas such as a ranking of 67th in life sciences and medicine. It has excelled in pharmacy and pharmacology coming 12th even though it lost four places.

A traditional rival of UoN, NTU has consistently failed to rank near the top 100, however it has continued climbing the tables to 592nd, after its surprising move of over 200 places last year.

It has done well in its international research scoring 84.6 per cent as well as consistently maintaining a place in the top 100 for art and design. Although NTU’s ranking is not on par with UoN’s, it has achieved Modern University of the Year 2023.
