Breaking: Two stabbed in Piccadilly Gardens

One was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries while the other was treated at the scene


Two people have been injured in what the police are describing as "a targeted attack" in Piccadilly Gardens.

An eyewitness told the Manchester evening news there was a "commotion" with two people on the ground and the police chasing the perpetrators down Oldham Street.

This comes after another stabbing there on the 12th of January.

A GMP spokesperson said: "At around 12.10pm today (Monday 10 February 2020), police were called to reports of an assault on Piccadilly, Manchester City Centre.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance.

"One man has been taken to hospital with injuries which aren’t believed to be life threatening. Another man is receiving treatment at the scene for minor injuries.

"An investigation is underway although officers are currently treating this as a targeted attack. There is no threat to the wider community."
