He’s a third year at Goldsmiths


Liam Charles, who goes by the name of 'Cake Boy', will be a contestant on this year's The Great British Bake Off.

19-year-old Liam is a third year student at Goldsmiths, where he studies Drama and Theatre Arts. His university friends fondly gave him the nickname 'Cake Boy' based on his baking prowess.

Liam recently took to social media to announce that he'll be appearing in the famed GBBO tent as of next week, posting a photo on Instagram captioned: "Alright Alright……..busted. But hey at least ITS OUT NOW!!! #GBBO #greatbritishbakeoff".

Despite only starting baking four years ago, Liam has already shown he has what it takes to be a star baker. His Instagram features regular snaps of homemade cookies, cakes, biscuits and ice creams.

The third year is from Hackney, North London, and regularly bakes at home with his younger nephews, encouraging them to have a positive attitude towards baking.

Liam believes that baking is a universal language that can bring people together from all walks of life. One of Liam’s main ambitions is to make baking acceptable amongst his peers and younger generations.

The Great British Bake Off will air for the first time on Channel 4 on Tuesday 29th August.
