It’s time to let it go, I’m sorry. You might refer to trick or treating as “healing your inner child” but really you just need to pop to the big Asda in Smithdown to get your sugar fix, rather than fighting some local kids for a bag of starmix. You could use girl math to argue that you’re technically meal prepping for the year by hoarding sweets and chocolate, but who are you really kidding.

You can’t deal with the FOMO of not going out on Halloween, but you’re most likely a second year entering their grandma era who can’t hack £4 doubles anymore. You probably think you’re being wise here, only going for a couple, and aiming to be in bed by 10pm. Before you know it, you’re in town, screaming “trick or treat” at unsuspecting freshers, and the only scary sight is the total in your bank account the morning after.
