Glitter, pearls, caps and headbands filled the room as everyone who had managed to buy a ticket for this sold-out night showed off their costumes. The effort people put into their outfits was impressive.

For anyone who is getting a little tired of the same old clubs (we love you, Heebie Jeebies, but you know what we mean) this is the perfect change of scene.

The fun thing about Speakeasy is that it is not just a night out…it’s an experience. Only here can you get live bands, a make-up booth complete with glitter and sequins and a clown wandering around.

A dance class before the night even begins is available for a few quid to spruce up your (possibly non-existent) dancing skills.
But this, like the night itself, you have to snatch up because it is all in high demand.

The DJ music last Saturday was adequate, but the live music was a whole other matter: it was clear the talented bands showcased were what people had turned up for.
