LUU Chinese society are raising money to bring equipment from China to Yorkshire in the fight against coronavirus

The page has already raised £5,285 of a £10,000 target

The LUU Chinese society alongside Chinese staff at Uni Of, have set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for personal protection equipment from China for hospitals and GP practices in Yorkshire.

The GoFundMe page was set up just two days ago and has already raised £5,285 of a £10,000 target. The page says:

“As a group of Chinese living in Leeds, we believe individual citizens should work together and show our solidarity in the difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As NHS staff are on the front lines battling the Coronavirus, we would like to support them by raising money to buy personal protective equipment from China. Thanks to our connections in China, we can do this more quickly and effectively than going through the usual long-winded government channels.

“We will donate this equipment to hospitals and GP practices in Yorkshire and the NHS volunteers will help us to distribute it. If we raise any more money than we need for this, we will donate it to the NHS.”

If this isn’t worth spending your saved money from not going to Fruity every Friday, then we don’t know what is.
