Glasgow ranked in the top one per cent of unis in the world

Strathclyde placed 456 in the world lol

According to a new list by the Centre for World University Rankings, Glasgow is the ninth best uni in the UK. Beaten only by Oxbridge and a few predictable others, we’re sitting pretty near the top of a 25,000 strong table of degree awarding institutions.

Aside from being top 10 in the UK, we were also ranked 132th in the world, putting us firmly in the top 0.5 per cent of the world’s unis.

The ranking takes into account the usual list of factors including quality of teaching, alumni employment and academic citations as well as a score for “broad impact”.

This puts us ahead of Southampton, Leeds, Sheffield and pretty much every other uni in the world. Across town, Strathclyde failed to break into the top 450, coming a less than impressive 456th.

Earlier this year, QS ranked Glasgow the 62nd best uni in the world and the 16th best place to study Veterinary Science.
