Glasgow’s overall score of 65.6 out of 100 is enough to place it above the likes of Leeds, Birmingham and (of course) Strathclyde.
Only one other Scottish uni, Edinburgh, makes the top ten in the UK.
Ninth best academically, clearly the best-looking though
Globally, Glasgow is ranked 102nd, tied with the VU University Amsterdam.
The rankings include over 750 institutions and focus on the universities’ academic research and overall reputation.
Glasgow scored well for its research, ranking 91st in the world for the number of highly cited academic papers the university is responsible for.
Subjects are also given individual rankings. Glasgow placed 66th for Arts and Humanities and 67th for Clinical Medicine.
