Edinburgh Uni is having one big Christmas jumper day

They’re teaming up with Save the Children Society

| UPDATED

Yes, it's December, which means it’s time for daily chocolate, guilt-free mulled wine and, most importantly, Christmas Jumper Day!

The University of Edinburgh are partnering up with the Save the Children Society bringing you, the students of this cold, cold capital, the chance to raid your wardrobe and find that knitted number you wish you had more opportunities to wear.

The event will take place on December 4th, aiming high as last year, a whopping £4.4 million was raised. Whilst the official date is December 14th, Save the Children Society and the University of Edinburgh have decided to bring the event forward by 10 days out the way of exams. Therefore, there’s no excuse not to get festive this week.

Anyone and everyone can take part, and last year there were over 4 million festive fanatics who got stuck in, rocking Christmas jumpers and donating anything from as little as £2.

This year, when wearing your Rudolph Christmas jumper (with a light up noise and button that starts the mind-numbing "Jingle Bells" tune) you can donate £2 by texting ‘TEAMEDUNI’ to 70050 or go online to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/edinburghcjd and donate that way.

The Save the Children Society will also be holding a Christmas stall on the first floor landing of the Library all day long. There'll be Christmassy props, outfits and all round festive vibes. Students can come a take a photo with the provided polaroid or digital cameras, make a donation, and get a FREE mince pie. What’s not to be excited about?

Just to feed your appetites even more, the university is running a Christmas Jumper Day Competition! You can send picture of yourself wearing a jumper to @EdinUniStudents on Facebook or Twitter to be in with a chance of winning a prize.

Finally, if you don’t own a Christmas jumper, do not fear! They're being sold in just about every Princes Street shop for as cheap as a Lidl Chocolate Santa. If however, like any typical student, you're now waiting for the next instalment of your student loan to come in, my advice is to get knitting now. A word of warning though – make sure your jumper isn't as impractical as any of these Christmas sweaters. We wouldn't want a snowman's nose getting in the way of revision.

This is sure to be a wonderfully festive day, and one that should give us all a breather from our intense exam schedule! Find out more information at https://christmasjumperday.org/
