Rio Olympic hero brings his medals along to Creme Soda

He won a gold and silver medal this summer

The Tab can reveal that on Wednesday at Creme Soda, club goers were graced by the appearance of double Olympic medal winner from Rio, Callum Skinner.

Skinner was part of the dominant Team GB cycling team, helping them win a gold medal in the team sprint and a silver in the individual sprint.

He was out celebrating after the Team Scotland sports awards night when he was spotted by a member of the Edinburgh Uni cycling team, James Parsons.

The third year theology student, who was completely starstruck by the meeting, said: “I just spotted him on the dance floor and went over to him and said hi.

“I freaked out massively for a bit, but he was quite cool about it.

“He was wearing his Team GB suit, which was fairly cool.”

At the end of the night, James got to speak him again outside the club. He said: “I bumped into him on the way out so I asked for a photo and this was when he got out the medals.

“I’m not sure why, but I gave him my free Creme Soda shirt as a present – it’s something I think he’ll treasure for the rest of his life, or until tomorrow morning.”
