A prostitute has been convicted of attempting to rob a student at knife-point before claiming he sexually assaulted her.

Her accomplice Darren Webb, 49, drew a a Stanley knife on the student. The pair then forced the student to a cash machine but he ran after seeing a police car.

Appearing at Warwick Crown Court on Friday Morgan and Webb were found guilty of attempting to rob the student. Morgan was also convicted of stealing her victim's wallet, while Webb faced a sentence for possessing a bladed article.

Recorder Nicholas Syfret QC adjourned the case and granted both bail, adding: “You will appreciate that both of them have long histories of drug use, and Jennifer Morgan a history of prostitution for most of her life."

“The court has to think carefully about what is the appropriate punishment.”

Prosecutor Tariq Shakoor claimed that Morgan had been beaten a couple of weeks previously, so Webb had gone out with her.

He added: "Morgan said she had made £40 that night, and used some of it to buy phone credit, to put some credit on their electricity payment card, and to buy a £5 deal of heroin which she had taken."

There have been 68 robberies reported within the centre of Coventry, where Raglan Street is located, between January and March 2019.
