Dogs Trust is looking for Cardiff students to volunteer at its rehoming centre

Dogs Trust in Cardiff is looking for students to volunteer at its centre, either at its Christmas fair or throughout the year.

Andrew Upton, Dogs Trust Cardiff’s Support Relations Officer told The Cardiff Tab that volunteers are always needed at the centre for a number of roles.

The tasks include dog walking, feeding, laundry, kennel cleaning, and washing up.

Volunteers are also needed to help out at the charity’s annual Christmas fair which is taking place on 9th and 10th December at its centre. It’ll involve Santa’s Grotto, a raffle, lots of stalls, and games throughout the day.

The centre is also only a short 10 minute drive from Cathays or approximately 1.5 mile walk, if you fancy the fresh air.

Andrew added that volunteers are required throughout the week and weekend, meaning its a great role to fit around your studies and also looks great on your CV.

There are approximately 90 dogs at the centre, from Border Collies to Chihuahuas to Chow Chows.

If you’re unable to volunteer your time but would still love to help out, students are able to pop down to the centre with unwanted bedding and towels which will be used by the dogs. There is also a food bank at the shelter which helps out those unable to feed their pets, and also members of the homeless community who have dogs too.
