St. John’s May Ball – support act revealed

With only four weeks until the ball, St John’s have revealed an incredible support act to boost excitement.

COASTS will be the support act at St. John’s College May Ball 2016.

Coasts are seemingly a favourite of Cambridge, having headlined Queens’ last year and also appearing at Jesus this year, which is no surprise due to their catchy indie-pop dancefloor-filling tracks.

The band met and formed at Bristol University in 2011 and released their first single ‘Stay’ in 2012, which received radio support from Huw Stephens. However, Coasts rocketed in popularity after releasing their third single ‘Oceans’ in June 2014. In less than four weeks time, everyone at St. John’s will be screaming the echoing chorus “we fell in lo-ove, right by the ocean” in unison – not an atmosphere to be missed.

Also in 214, the band played Radio 1’s Big Weekend at Glasgow, which they followed up with a sold out show at Dingwalls in Camden and were named as iTunes ‘Ones to Watch’ in July 2014.

Their fourth single ‘A Rush of Blood’ was premiered at Zane Lows’s ‘Hottest Record’ on BBC Radio 1, followed by an extensive UK tour.

Since then, Coasts have continued to grow in popularity, headlining London’s KOKO and performing at Coachella and Reading/Leeds festivals in 2015. Their debut album ‘Coasts’ was released in January 2016, with arena-ready tracks which may very well eventually carry them there – so catch them at St. John’s before they explode.

With such a big support act, The Tab Music have high hopes for St. John’s May Ball headliner – keep an eye out.
