Birmingham student Lily Owsley could win gold in Rio tonight
This 21-year-old wont stop amazing you
At nine tonight, Lily Owsley, a Birmingham University student, is playing in the Olympic women’s hockey final against the Netherlands.
At only 21, Lily has 98 caps to her name, and 25 goals. The forward currently studies Sports Science, and has been voted the ‘FIH Rising Star of the Year’. With the rival Netherlands team already boasting five two-time gold medallists from previous games and Great Britain only coming third in the 2012 games, the match is set to be tough.
When asked why she chose hockey by the Telegraph, she replied: “The deciding factor for me was the team aspect. I love being part of a team.”
Good luck to Lily and the rest of the team tonight, we’re routing for you.
