Belfast has the highest average internet speed in the UK

Is this some kind of sick joke

Belfast has the highest average internet speed in the entire UK.

A recent report from OFCOM has found that the average download speed in the UK is 30mbp/s, and that 97 per cent of us in Belfast have that speed. 97 per cent. That’s nearly everyone. Other top locations included Luton, which beat us by a hair in terms of coverage sitting at 98 per cent and Portsmouth, with 96 per cent. Both enjoy the top average speed of 30mbp/s.

Mad speed

It was also revealed that on average, households downloaded 82GBs worth of data in 2015, which is up 29 per cent from 58GBs in 2014. Your speed is also more likely to be faster than that of your local authority, a.k.a, City Hall, as their average speed is only 16.2mbp/s, up from 13.8mbp/s in 2014.

Upon finding out about our gloriously average speeds, a bitter ex-patriate and now first year at the University of Wales Trinity said: “Wow, look at you first world fuckers not living off a 20 year old modem feeling like fuckin wall-e. Yes, I miss Belfast.”
