Everything Liam Payne’s ‘heartbroken’ family members have said after his tragic death

Liam Payne tragically died yesterday evening after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Now, his family members have released a statement following his death.

His family all released a joint statement at 1:30pm today, saying “We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.

“We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”

His uncle Roger Harris told MailOnline, “We are all just deeply saddened and trying to come to terms with it. I just hope everybody gives them some privacy really and allows them to come to terms with it. That’s all I can say.”

An anonymous family member also spoke to MailOnline at Liam Payne’s family home in Wolverhampton. They said, “We are utterly devastated by the news.”

Liam Payne had two older sisters, called Nicola and Ruth. They returned to the family house this morning.

The One Direction star grew up in the Heath Town area of Wolverhampton. His mother Karen is a nurse, and his father Geoff is a fitter. Liam Payne is survived by his seven-year-old son with Cheryl, Bear.

As well as family members, various celebrities have paid tribute to Liam Payne after his death, including Liam Gallagher, Dermot O’Leary, Charlie Puth, One Direction’s guitarist Dan Richards and Harry Styles’s mother.

One Direction fans are holding candlelit vigils outside the Casa Sur Palmero hotel where he died.
