Liam Payne tragically died last night after falling from the third-floor balcony of his hotel room in Argentina. Here’s a timeline of everything we know about the death of Liam Payne so far.

2nd October

Liam Payne flew to Buenos Aires with his girlfriend of two years, Kate Cassidy. They went to Niall Horan’s concert on 2nd October together. Liam posted selfies with Niall on Snapchat.

14th October

Kate Cassidy flew home to Florida on 14th October. She said on TikTok that she’d originally only planned to stay in Argentina for five days, and she felt ready to go home. Liam Payne stayed in Buenos Aires.

16th October, early afternoon

Liam Payne posted a series of photos on Snapchat of his time in Argentina. He shared a mirror selfie of him and Kate Cassidy which she had previously posted for his 30th birthday on 29th Augst 2023. In a video, he gave his followers a tour of a hotel room on a “lovely day in Argentina” and described plans to ride horses and play polo.

16th October, late afternoon

Staff at the hotel were concerned about Liam Payne and phoned the police. A full transcript of the phone call has been released. The hotel manager was worried about a guest “drunk with drugs and alcohol” who was “breaking everything in the room.” The staff were concerned that there was a balcony in the hotel room.

16th October, 5:04pm local time / 9:04pm BST

Workers at the hotel reportedly heard a loud thudding noise just after 5:00pm local time.

A city ambulance service provider spokesman called Alberto Crescenti said, “The alarm was raised at 5.04pm local time saying a person was lying in an internal patio at Casa Sur.

“At 5.11pm, an ambulance arrived and the man was certified dead.

“Afterwards we found out he had been a famous singer. Unfortunately, the injuries he had suffered as a result of the fall proved to be fatal. There was no possibility of resuscitating him.”

Several people staying in the hotel claim to have seen Liam Payne fall from the balcony of the third-floor hotel room.

16th October, evening

Various celebrities have paid tribute to Liam Payne, including Liam Gallagher, Dermot O’Leary, Charlie Puth, One Direction’s guitarist Dan Richards and Harry Styles’s mother.

17th October, early morning

One Direction fans are holding candlelit vigils outside the Casa Sur Palmero hotel.

TMZ received so much backlash for posting cropped photos of Liam Payne’s body that they took the photos down.

The original TMZ article said, “TMZ obtained a photo showing Liam’s body on a wooden deck at the hotel with tables and chairs nearby. We’re not showing the whole body, but you can clearly see his tattoo – a clock on his left forearm, and a scorpion on his abdomen.”
