Blake Lively It Ends With Us drama started over big fight with the director in the editing room
‘Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively hate each other’
There has been a lot of drama surrounding Blake Lively and her new film It Ends With Us, adapted by the massively popular Colleen Hoover novel. People were quick to notice that director and co-star of Blake Lively Justin Baldoni wasn’t really doing much press for the film, and the cast weren’t getting many pictures with him at red carpet events for the film’s release – which hits cinemas today. Now, more sources have come out and said the reason Blake Lively is having drama with Baldoni over It Ends With Us is down to a big fight in the editing room over the final edit of the released film. Major beef.
There are now rumours the rift began after Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni argued in the editing room over competing cuts for the final edit of It Ends With Us. Allegedly, both Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni had a final version of It Ends With Us, and the drama came after both showed the cuts to test audiences. Apparently, Baldwin’s went down better with the crowd – but Blake Lively took over. She had the final say because of none other than Ryan Reynolds, who rumours say “basically took over the movie and buddied up to author Colleen Hoover to see that their cut won.”
These are all rumours and gossip, but there is some truth that Ryan Reynolds got involved on set. Blake Lively herself said he came in and wrote a pivotal rooftop scene despite not working on the screenplay. “The iconic rooftop scene, my husband actually wrote it,” Lively told E! News. “Nobody knows that, but you now.” She continued, “He works on everything I do. I work on everything he does. So his wins, his celebrations are mine and mine are his.”

This has all been widely discussed by tinfoil hat wearing pop culture commentators and film fans. “You literally can’t convince me that Ryan Reynolds isn’t the reason for all this Justin Baldoni/It Ends With Us drama, and I feel like Justin doesn’t want anything to do with the drama, and for that reason, has chosen a step back from the PR events leading up to the movie,” pop culture TikToker Arianna Lillie said in one video. “And I’m not saying that Blake Lively has specifically been problematic, but I knew something was up the second I heard that Ryan Reynolds was coming in and rewriting scenes of a movie that Justin Baldoni is not only starring in, but also directing, and is the whole reason this project is happening.”
Huge drama. Maybe all for nothing, too – It Ends with Us has debuted with a middling Rotten Tomatoes score of just 57 per cent. Certified rotten.
