Fans think House of the Dragon finale will confirm Daenerys was The Prince That Was Promised
I mean, did any of us really think it was Jon to begin with?
Erm, so after the House of the Dragon season finale leaked online there’s been a lot of speculation about what might happen in the final episode, with some fans thinking it will be confirmed that Daenerys was The Prince That Was Promised.
Now, fair warning if you don’t want any spoilers for what may or may not transpire in the leaked season finale, I would highly suggest you turn back now!
Now, whether you’ve already seen the leaked House of the Dragon finale scenes or you’re just wanting to be nosey, let’s get to the bottom of why fans think the episode will feature Daenerys.
Okay, so if you’ve forgotten let’s have a little refresher on why The Prince That Was Promised has been such a big deal in both House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. The Prince That Was Promised is a prophecy that points to a saviour who will essentially save the world from darkness, and there are some criteria the individual must fulfil. These being they must be born amidst salt and smoke beneath a bleeding star, will wake dragons from stone and will pull a sword named Lightbringer from flames.
The prophecy is translated from Valyrian where prince has no gender attached, meaning the promised hero could either be a man or a woman. During Game of Thrones, it was fiercely debated whether Daenerys or Jon Snow was the Prince That Was Promised, and after the leaked House of the Dragon finale, it seems we might be getting confirmation of who it was.
The prophecy is an equally important plotline in House of the Dragon as Viserys tells Rhaenyra of Aegon the Conquerer dreaming about the Long Night. Aegon believed the only way to defeat the Night King was to have a Targaryen and their dragons leading the whole of Westeros into battle.
This is all well and good, but why has the leaked finale made fans think House of the Dragon will confirm Daenerys always was the Prince That Was Promised? Well, one scene that’s going around shows what seems to be a silver haired woman sitting with her back to the camera, with small dragons in her lap. Whilst it’s impossible to tell fans are convinced Daemon is seeing Daenerys in one of his visions, in order to make him realise he must rejoin Rhaenyra in order to preserve their lineage and make sure she’s born.
Obviously take this with an absolutely massive grain of the salt, because ultimately we’ll all have to wait until Sunday to see what’s really going on, I genuinely cannot wait.
