It turns out Ben from MAFS Australia’s travel podcast is a massive flop making less than $1
A sad state of affairs
Hayley SoenIt’s been previously revealed that MAFS Australia 2024 groom Ben has a travel podcast as a lil side hustle to his job as a tour guide. But, the sorry truth is that it’s a massive flop.
The podcast is called GET LOST With A Travel Guide and is available on YouTube and Spotify. It currently has a 4.2 star rating with over 30 episodes – the most recent being released just this week.
Ben describes himself on the podcast as a “long term traveller, ex European Tour Leader and Australia Tour Director who interviews people to unpack travel tips, tourism, culture and wild journeys.”
But, it’s since been revealed that his podcasting venture isn’t doing too well. According to Yahoo Lifestyle, his travel podcast has failed to gain many new listeners, despite him being in the experiment. The publication has reported it only gained 32 new subscribers whilst averaging 490 views a week whilst Ben was on Married at First Sight – which would have been an expected boost to the podcast show.
It’s been estimated that this sort of viewership would have generated between $0.52 and $8 in ad revenue during the last 30 days. Big yikes.
However, Ben has said that he treats the podcast as just a hobby. “If you look, I’ve done 30 episodes since 2019,” Ben told Yahoo Lifestyle. “That’s not a consistent podcast, that is a hobby. But it got picked up, and two plus two equals five for people. But I was joking.”
