The Fall of the House of Usher Gerald's Game

Omg, there’s a wild Gerald’s Game easter egg hidden in The Fall of the House of Usher

Mike Flanagan’s Netflix ‘Flanaverse’ just gets deeper and deeper

| UPDATED

Mike Flanagan is obsessed with shoving easter eggs from his work into his Netflix productions, and with the latest series The Fall of the House of Usher he of COURSE couldn’t resist. Like most Mike Flanagan horror productions, The Fall of the House of Usher contains a lot of the same cast that the horror auteur loves to use. Notably, Bruce Greenwood and Carla Gugino are back for The Fall of the House of Usher after starring as the lead married couple in Gerald’s Game – but the crossovers don’t stop there, and Flanagan hid another easter egg.

In episode six of The Fall of the House of Usher, Lenore and her mum Morella, recovering from the acid rain rave from episode two are watching the Edgar Allen Poe story The Pit and the Pendulum – a 1961 Vincent Price adaptation. When they go to pick the next film though, the real fun begins – they hover over Gerald’s Game on Netflix.

This is wild because Bruce Greenwood and Carla Gugino are both in The Fall of the House of Usher as well as Gerald’s Game, which means that basically Lenore and Morella would be watching their grandfather and father in law respectively play a deranged sex game with Verna – as Gugino plays a demon of pure chaos in the new show.

The Fall of the House of Usher by Mike Flanagan – adapting the original story by Edgar Allen Poe – is available on Netflix now. For all the latest Netflix news, drops, quizzes and memes like The Holy Church of Netflix on Facebook.
