‘He’s giving a bit of both’: Love Island Aftersun guest speculates Mehdi’s sexuality live on TV

31-year-old rapper Stefflon Don shared her thoughts on Love Islander Mehdi Edno live on Aftersun last night. She commented on him after watching the heart race challenge and both Maya and the studio audience were horrified.

She told Maya Jama: “I don’t know if he even likes females, I’m not going to lie.” Maya responded with: “Oh no” as the audience gasped.

Instead of stopping there, Stefflon continued: “I’m not sure you know. Or he likes both. He’s giving a bit of both.” Maya interrupted her saying: “He can do whatever he likes.”

Viewers watching Aftersun at home were shook by Stefflon’s comments, calling her out on Twitter. One person said it was an “insane thing to say on live TV.”

Another person wrote: “Homophobia and biphobia during Pride month? Simply wild scenes and it killed my vibe.” Similarly someone else tweeted: “To go on live TV during Pride month and openly speculate about someone’s sexual identity is so wrong and so nasty.”

The general consensus on Twitter is people agreeing Stefflon Don will not be invited back on Aftersun again. She also pronounced his name as “Meady” before speculating his sexuality live on TV.
