HBO casts three more actors in the Harry Potter TV show – here’s what they had to say about it

Three more actors have agreed to be in HBO Max’s controversial Harry Potter TV show. The new cast members are joining the cast for season two, which will be based on the book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Here’s the lowdown on which actors are playing which roles, and what they had to say for themselves.

Moaning Myrtle’s actors says she understands the ‘responsibilities’

An actor called Molly Hewitt-Richards will play Moaning Myrtle in the second season of the Harry Potter show. You might have seen her as the character Lillian in the Channel 4 show F**k Ups.

Molly wrote on her Instagram: “Getting this job has been a rollercoaster of emotions, I am so so excited, very overwhelmed and grateful to be part of this magical world that I have loved for so long!

“I understand the significance and responsibilities of being part of this world. I hope I can use my little part to spread love for all witches and wizards.”

She signed the message as “Myrtle Elizabeth Warren”, which is her character’s actual full name.

Arthur Weasley will be played by the son of an actor from the films

Rafe Spall has signed on to portray Arthur Weasley (the dad of Ron, Ginny, etc). Rafe is the son of Timothy Spall, who played the villain Peter Pettigrew (aka Wormtail) in the OG film series.

The actor has previously spoken about his connections to Harry Potter. In 2022, the Radio Times asked him whether his children have watched any of his projects. Rafe said: “They are impressed by my dad [as Peter Pettigrew] in the Harry Potter films.”

The newbie Hogwarts will be played by Jasper Ambrose. He voiced the character Oliver in the film The Sheep Detectives, and appeared in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy as one of Rebecca’s children.

Jasper doesn’t have any public social media – although his reps at the Sylvia Young Agency wrote on Threads: “Thrilled to share that our brilliant Jasper is joining HBO Max’s season two cast.”
