‘Get him OUT’: Harry from Big Brother’s husband backlash gets worse as shocking post resurfaces

Big Brother 2026 has already been met with controversy, and this time it’s over housemate Harry Symonds, his controversial husband, and some jarring political views. 

Big Brother has always been an experiment, and part of its charm was always shoving people into a room who would otherwise be strangers. Though the show has undoubtedly lost its magic over the years, it’s this format that ITV are continuing to beat to death.

Why is Harry Symonds’ reported husband so controversial? 

This year’s controversial housemate is already shaping up to be Harry Symonds, and he’s only been in there for 24 bloody hours. 

Some of the backlash stems from Harry’s alleged husband, former MP Scott Benton. A member of the Conservative Party, Scott had the whip removed after he had suggested to reporters – who were actually investors – that he would lobby ministers in return for payments. Following his 35-day suspension, he resigned as an MP. 

Part of the backlash associated with Harry is down to his husband’s political affiliations, because Scott now works for Restore Britain. In case you weren’t aware, it’s like the Shein dupe of Reform, which is bad enough on its own. 

However, it’s important to note that it’s not clear if Harry is still married to Scott. He said he was living alone during his Big Brother interview, The Sun reported.

Naturally, as the backlash was raging on Twitter, people began to dig through Harry’s digital footprint. He joined a Facebook group called Gay Conservatives GOP & Allies for a better America, which is odd considering he lives and works in the UK. 

In one post, he said: “Thanks so much for accepting me into this amazing community. It’s great to be part of a space where we can connect as gay Republicans who value freedom, personal responsibility and common sense principles.

“I’m Harry, I’m gay myself and based in the UK. I’m a huge supporter of the Republican movement and conservative values in the USA. I used to work in the police and as a busy professional, I know how hard it can be to stay on top of your health and confidence when life’s full on.

It might have been just a load of waffle to offer PT sessions to American Republicans, but the post has really angered people on Twitter.
