Love Island 2026 cast share who’s *actually* still mates now, and what the group chat is like

As soon as the Love Island 2026 cast got back on the plane and headed to the UK, it was time for us to see who was *actually* mates from the show. Were they just being cordial while the cameras were around, or were they actually going to stay in touch and form friendships in the real world?

The latest batch of Islanders have now been back to reality for around six weeks, and cracks are beginning to show. Plenty of them didn’t give each other a follow on Instagram when they got their phones back, and now the couples are starting to break up. It’s not looking good.

On the NTAs red carpet, as a whole bunch of the cast members attended, they were asked about who they’re still mates with and what the Love Island 2026 group chat is up to. Tumbleweed? Or constant jokes?

Speaking to Curiously, Angelista confirmed there is a group chat going strong, and it’s called “Love Island Tarts”. Simba added: “I think Lorenzo made it.” Angelista added: “Lorenzo made the name. And the girlies have our own group chat as well. The girls, we reach out to each other like, ‘Oh my gosh, I miss you we need to link up.’ This, that and the other stuff.”

Ellie and Yasmin were also quizzed about the group chat on the red carpet, in a conversation with the BBC. Ellie said: “It’s hard to keep in touch with everyone. Because everyone’s so busy. So it’s like, you try and message everyone when you can, but it’s just here and there and far. Like, trying to message everyone.”

Yasmin added: “We’re still close with everyone. It’s just a case of, we haven’t seen people really. It’s so difficult.” The girls noted that the NTAs was the first time most of them we’re going to be meeting up again, and called the event “like a big group chat”. Yasmin was hoping to “see everyone, catch up, and get the goss.”

One thing is for sure, the main villa and Casa Amor divide is still going strong

It was clear as day this year that there was a big divide between the Casa Amor girls and the main villa girls. Lola and Julia clashed heads, and so did Jasmin and Charleen. From these dramas, sides were formed.

And outside the villa, this has remained. Last month, Julia and Lorenzo did an interview, and the topic of the differences between the main villa girls and the Casa girls was brought up.

The conversation was taken to suggesting the girls in the main villa were “more insecure” than the Casa girls, and that Julia was “smarter than everyone else.” People have obviously concluded that this was mainly to do with the beef that went on with Julia and Charleen, and main villa girls such as Jasmine and Lola. 

People were then quick to notice that Charleen had been liking clips and comments from the interview where it was said that the other girls were “insecure” compared to the Casa girls. Charleen then straight up admitted that she had liked the clips. The drama lives on!
