On that day, Susan Lorincz got into a dispute with AJ’s son, Izzy, over leaving his toys around. She allegedly took his tablet and threw his roller skates. Shortly after, at 8:54 pm, she called 911, claiming the neighbourhood children were “standing there, leaving toys around, just screaming and yelling.” The call lasted five minutes, ending at 8:59 pm. Then, two minutes later, at 9:01 pm, she fired a single bullet through her front door, hitting AJ Owens. Paramedics arrived and rushed AJ to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead shortly after.
Lorincz was taken into custody for questioning the same night. She was released hours later, with officers advising her to stay in a hotel while the investigation continued.
