The Scottish girl who faked pregnancy with a realistic doll has shared a worrying update
She’s been active on social media
Over the last few days, TikTok and group chats across the UK have been completely consumed by one of the wildest internet stories in a while — a 23-year-old Scottish girl who faked her entire pregnancy for nine months, and even continued the lie after “giving birth”, using a hyper-realistic reborn fake baby doll.

For months, Kira Cousins shared what looked like totally normal pregnancy updates online: Bump pics, scan photos, posts about hospital appointments, and even emotional updates about supposed complications with the baby’s heart. Her friends and family were all in, too. She was thrown a baby shower, and one family member reportedly spent £1,000 on a pushchair for her.
But according to reports, the truth came out shortly after the supposed birth, when Kira’s mum grew suspicious about the eerily quiet baby she wasn’t allowed to hold. She eventually discovered that “Bonnie Leigh” was, in fact, a reborn baby doll.

When the news broke, Kira deleted all her social media accounts and allegedly stayed with her dad until things cooled off. Then, on Monday, she came back online, reactivating her TikTok to “clear things up”.
“I had been keeping myself away from literally everyone, went into my own bubble and didn’t want anyone around me at all,” she said. “My family sat me down and asked me what had happened earlier in my pregnancy which I will come out and address when I’m also ready to. Don’t for one min think either they let me away with any of this. THEY HAVEN’T.”

Since that first statement, Kira has posted several more updates, including to Instagram and even going live with a friend. While there’s been confusion over which accounts are real (a bunch of fake profiles have popped up posting made-up statements), one Instagram account has been verified by her family to be genuine.
On the account, she admitted: “So many fake profiles claiming to be me jumping on this to try get clout. This was not an easy thing to do. Yes I lied, but when I lost baby with miscarriage, I didn’t know what to do.
“My head wasn’t thinking straight and I couldn’t bear it. I done this because I was hurting and wanted to be a mum so badly. Yes, it was wrong, I know, but my head wasn’t in the sand with grief.”

Since then, Kira has continued to share worrying updates, including one selfie captioned “help is needed”, saying she planned to “speak to someone for help”.
This morning, she posted on her Instagram story: “So many death threats I know I’ve done wrong but stop them.”
Followed by: “Can’t do this anymore I’ve made too many mistakes and not owned up to them but it’s late now.”

People have since expressed concern for her wellbeing after receiving intense amounts of hate.
One commenter wrote: “Stop bullying her. Clearly, she will get the help she needs. Wishing you the best.”
Another added: “If this is the real account, don’t listen to the haters — you’re taking ownership and they have no idea how hard it is for you.”
Kira has since said she plans to go live “to explain why, and more importantly make my apologies,” before leaving social media for good.
