Someone made an AI rap of Angela Rayner’s housing scandal and it’s a hard watch

‘£80K saved with a Brighton tan; Dodgin’ more duty than the average man’

Angela Rayner is in hot water right now after she admitted to underpaying the stamp duty on her flat in Hove.

The news is currently holding its breath to discover whether she broke ministerial code and whether she’ll resign or be sacked – but social media is instead humouring itself with an AI rap video mocking Angela Rayner.

Posted yesterday, the video depicts a red haired woman in an Adidas tracksuit and gold chain spitting bars about “How many homes can Rayner buy?”

The clip been described as “pure talent” by viewers, and features multiple scenes with a woman made to look like Angela Rayner dancing in front of council flats and fanning a wad of cash.

The lyrics begin with: “Bought me one house, bought me two; Flip another flat, taxman no clue; £80K saved with a Brighton tan; Dodgin’ more duty than the average man. How many homes, I’ll name ’em all; Big Ange dancin’ in the Commons hall; Taxman cryin’, Rayner smilin’; One rule for me, none for thee!”

The MP is currently under criticism for allegations around unpaid stamp duty on one of her properties.

This year, Angela Rayner bought a flat in Hove for £800,000 yet only paid £30,000 in stamp duty, a far cry from the £70,000 she should have spent if it had been declared as a second home.

She also removed herself from the deeds of her family house in Greater Manchester, which allowed her to avoid paying the higher rate.

The Deputy Prime Minister said she acted on legal advice and has since sought further council, as well as refer her case to the independent ethics adviser.

PM Keir Stamer has refused to confirm or deny whether MP Rayner will be sacked and instead has reiterated he will wait for the probe outcome.

Angela Rayner has insisted she’s acted in good faith, however graffiti has since appeared on her Brighton property and around the town reading “tax evader”. She’s also been dubbed with the nickname “Three Pads” as her Brighton home is her third property in addition to her constituency home and apartment in central London.
