These five Westminster pubs have been shortlisted in the UK top 500
Proof that London does pubs better than anyone
London doesn’t play when it comes to pubs – and now it’s official.
The Telegraph just dropped its list of the UK’s top 500 pubs, and a staggering 40 London spots made the cut.
Each pub was selected according to their “charming character, welcoming staff, rich history, and award-winning beer”, and was assembled by the expert Will Hawkes: A connoisseur of pubs.
However, we’d be here forever if we went through them all so let’s look at the five City of Westminster pubs which have been hailed as some of the best in Britain.
The Coach and Horses (Greek Street)
Located in the heart of Soho, The Coach and Horses is the first on the list.
Offering quality cask ale and classic drinks, this pub provides a cozy spot to grab a pint and have a chit-chat, in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Soho.
If you’re looking for traditional pub vibes, a historic spot, and friendly service, this is the place for your next post-lecture pint.
The Devonshire (Denman Street)
Another Soho favourite is The Devonshire, a spot serving decent food and vibes that are buzzing – this one lives up to the hype.
It’s a popular choice for a lively night, its traditional English cuisine, and the Guinness, which pours so smooth you’d swear you were in Dublin.
So next time you’re in the city, remember this spot is worth the trip!
The Coach and Horses (Covent Garden)
It’s no shock this Westminster pub is one of the best as this spot has been serving up Guinness long before The Devonshire made it trendy.

No beer garden, no problem! People watching around Covent Garden as you grab a sunny spot outside this pub is a much better idea.
The Harp (Covent Garden)
Another traditional pub and another Covent Garden favourite; The Harp makes the list of best London pubs.
With two floors and stained glass windows, this place is perfect for a quick drink and a long-lasting conversation with friends.
Its quirky features include the narrowness of its bar, strange wall art, and open- front windows.
You don’t need to come with a large crowd to this place; its vibe has enough life in itself.
The Jackalope (Marylebone)
