Suspect leaves sinister note outside workplace of influencer who was shot mid livestream
Police have since removed the bouquet of flowers
Residents of Zapopan city in Jalisco are waiting for an update on the murder of Valeria Marquez, a salon worker and influencer was mercilessly killed in what is being treated as an act of “Femicide” by Mexican authorities.
Femicide, which the UN describes as a killing based on someone’s gender, is a major issue sweeping Mexico right now. Valeria is but the latest in a string of unsettling murders, with a former member of Congress killed that very same day. Valeria was murdered by a man pretending to be a delivery driver during a TikTok live stream, and while the platform has since removed the video, it’s been circulated on Twitter and Reddit.
Though the story is still evolving, with authorities pursuing leads of the killing being related to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, we did receive an update earlier this week.
The most recent update we’ve received on the Valeria Marquez case is chilling
A lot of the details surrounding Valeria Marquez’s murder are still unconfirmed, with people speculating about a potential ex-boyfriend in the cartel and her friend somehow being involved. All we know for certain is that the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office is investigating every possible lead.
Earlier this week, pictures were shared on Instagram that showed flowers laid outside of Blossom The Beauty Lounge, where Valeria Marquez was killed. According to The Sun and local media outlets, one specific bouquet was marked as suspicious by police and immediately removed for further analysis.
The bouquet of red roses, placed inside a large glass vase, had black gift wrapping around the sides and a neatly tied green bow around the bottom. Across the top of the roses was “Pardon” in Spanish, meaning sorry. Police believe it was left by the suspect.
