It all feeds into the rumour that she was training hard for one iconic role – the rumour that she’s going to be playing Lara Croft in the upcoming Amazon TV series adaptation of Tomb Raider.

According to reports from Variety, Turner is in final negotiations to take on the role in a new live-action adaptation, which is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios and Legendary Television. The series is being helmed by everyone’s fave Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who’s on board as both writer and executive producer.

This latest iteration would see Sophie Turner following in the footsteps of previous portrayals by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander. Turner’s casting marks a bold new direction for the franchise, with sources suggesting she’s been training hard to physically transform and that she’d be doing her own stunts. And obvs, if you’ve played any Tomb Raider game, you know the stunts are wild to say the least.

Despite the buzz, there’s been some uncertainty behind the scenes. After years in development—six, to be exact—there are whispers that the project could still face cancellation.
