All the celebrities banned from the Met Gala, and each harsh reason why

It’s tough out there in Hollywood

Over the years, it’s believed a number of celebrities have been banned from the Met Gala. It’s one of the biggest celeb events of the year, and sees the most famous faces on the planet all come together for an evening of dressing up, and well, doing expensive things.

The guest list is hand-picked by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, every single year. It usually contains big names in film, TV, music and sport. There will always be some random guests, too. But, some A-Listers aren’t on the list. Here’s a rundown of all the celebrities who are *thought* to be banned from the Met Gala.

Donald Trump is the only person Anna herself has said is 100 per cent banned from the Met Gala. He’ll never be seen on her guest list. But, Trump has been to the do in the past. He attended the Met Gala alongside wife Melania for several years, until their final appearance in 2012. However, he was banned shortly after he took office.

Zayn made comments about a time he went to the Met Gala and basically called it rubbish. He’s not been since, so it’s probably safe to say he doesn’t want to be there, and Anna wouldn’t host him.

“I’d rather be sitting at my house doing something productive than dressing up in really expensive clothes and being photographed on a red carpet,” he told GQ. “To do the self-indulgent ‘look at me, I’m amazing’ thing on the red carpet, it’s not me.”

Tim Gunn

Author and TV personality Tim Gunn has said he’s been banned from the Met Gala. Speaking to E! News he put it down to an argument with Anna Wintour.

He told the publication: “I was asked what is the most unforgettable thing I’ve ever seen in fashion. I said: ‘It’s easy. It was watching Anna Wintour being carried down five flights of stairs by two bodyguards — two big hulking men — from a fashion show.’ All hell broke loose. It was insane. We’ve had an open war ever since.”

Tina Fey

Tina Fey is *rumoured* to be among those not expecting an invite any time soon. She attended the event in 2010, and made some pretty choice comments about it.

“It is such a jerk parade,” she said during an interview. “Clearly, I’ll never go again, but you go and it’s this beautiful space and it’s just every jerk from every walk of life is there wearing some stupid thing. You walk up these huge steps… and I went and I dragged my husband along with me too, which I’m still in trouble for.”

Lili Reinhart

Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart has said she doesn’t think she’ll ever be invited back to the Met Gala. This was after she called out Kim Kardashian, who had spoken about losing weight for the event.

“To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is otherworldly disgusting,” Lili wrote on Instagram at the time.

“Please stop supporting these stupid, harmful celebrities whose entire image revolves around their bodies. I am not generally an angry person but I swear to god, the toxicity of this industry sometimes really gets to me.”

In a later interview, Lili said she “said a certain something about a certain person in a certain dress” and doesn’t ever think she’ll go back.
