The King’s Tab hands over the baton to a brand new team of editors. Are you up for the challenge?


The King’s Tab is now officially opening applications for its 2025/2026 editorial team, we are looking for a brand new group of editors to lead the coming academic year.

As graduation approaches, our current editorial team is looking to hand over the reigns for the roles of Editor in Chief, Features Editor, News Editor, Social Media Editor and TikTok Editor. Whether you’re a seasoned student journalist, interested in creating content for our socials or just looking for some journalistic experience, The King’s Tab is the perfect opportunity to get your foot in the door.

The roles do not require a lot of prior experience, just a passion to write and the drive to shape a new year of the King’s Tab. All you need to be is a current student at King’s College London who is willing to commit to the role. Our excellent team at The Tab HQ will provide training, support and guidance so that you’ll have all the help you need at every step of the way.

Some of the editorial commitments will include, hosting meetings, pitching weekly articles, writing, editing and of course, publishing for The King’s Tab. Being a part of the editorial team is a fantastic opportunity for anybody interested in journalism, The Tab is the largest student newspaper in the UK which will look great on any CV.

A spot in the editorial team will also give you the chance to write articles for the national site which amasses millions of readers per month. There are also other perks such as attending exclusive Tab team events at our HQ in London as well as the opportunity to join a network of qualified journalists.

Editor in Chief

As Editor in Chief, you’ll have the responsibility of leading and maintaining the team. You’ll lead the direction of coverage, write and edit your own articles across features and news while also commissioning and editing articles from writers.

You’ll regularly communicate with The Tab HQ who will support and assist you with your role and responsibilities. This role is best suited for someone with strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills who will be able to stay organised and consistent.

The Editor in Chief will also ensure that the team stays motivated and focused, ensuring that the latest news and events are covered and that every article published is up to Tab standards. This is a highly rewarding position, giving you the opportunity to demonstrate your leadership skills and your passion for those wanting a career is journalism.

News Editor

This role is best suited for someone who is able to keep up with the fast-paced nature that news requires, ensuring that stories are efficiently covered and published. You’ll have to stay informed about what is happening on campus and around London at all times, keeping an ear out for exclusive scoops. This is the perfect opportunity to take charge of creating news articles, ensuring that thousands of students know what is happening around campus.

The News Editor will be required to write and edit weekly articles, occasionally help with features and commission to writers.

Features Editor

As Features Editor, you’ll be in charge of writing and editing our popular features pieces. The role is best suited for someone with a strong sense of what The King’s Tab Features section looks like and what it should include.

This is the perfect opportunity for a witty, creative and opinionated individual who is well versed in what’s culturally relevant. It is important that the features editor is able to write and edit funny, interesting articles that will keep our large readership engaged and up to date.

The Features Editor will be required to pitch article ideas, help our writers develop their own pieces and of course write, edit and publish weekly.

Social Media Editor

As our Social Media Editor, you’ll have the exclusive opportunity to manage and grow our social media pages. This role requires you to manage The King’s Tab Instagram and Facebook (which have a combined following of over 20,000 accounts) and you’ll pair up with the TikTok Editor to brainstorm and create content for our pages.

Your responsibilities will include advertising articles, creating memes, posting daily content on our stories, growing our audience, ensuring our followers stay engaged and posting articles across our pages. This role does not require you do write or edit any articles, but you are more than welcome to

This role is best suited for someone who stays up to date with trends, campus gossip and the latest news, with a knack for creating memes that are relevant to King’s student body and lifestyle. If you’re looking to get some experience in promoting and managing a brand image or just love to scrolling and posting on socials, this is the perfect role for you!

Experience with editing apps such as Canvas is desired but not necessary.

TikTok Editor

This role is perfect for anyone looking for the opportunity to be fun and creative, working with the Social Media Editor to create content for our TikTok page. This position is best suited for someone with a strong understanding of pop and meme culture, ensuring that our page stays on trend at all times. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable on camera as you’ll be required to present our news articles.

Experience in editing and creating TikTok content is desire but not necessary.
